Never in my life did I think I would make my own nut butter. There are some things that I would just rather buy than make myself. I love almond butter and I spent years trying to find the right brand that has the right ingredients and the right consistency. A few years ago, my sister in law showed me how to make my own almond butter and I was blown away. I’m not really going to take credit for this recipe, because it’s really not a recipe. It’s a guide for How to Make Almond Butter. It’s literally one ingredient and takes about 4 minutes. YUP that’s it!
When my daughter was starting out eating solid foods, I wanted to make sure that I exposed her to tons of different foods. Once she tried peanut butter, I quickly let her try almond butter. It’s a different flavor and tastes a bit nuttier. To be honest, almonds are one of my favorite snacks! A few years ago, my amazing sister in law, Shirley, told me that she makes her own. I was shocked because I didn’t know that it was really that easy. She told me that it’s all about the kind of almonds. And believe me she is right, because I randomly decided to use a different kind, and it was horrible.
If it wasn’t for Shirley, I’d still be buying expensive almond butter instead of making it myself. She is married to my husband’s brother. In the fall of 2019, Shirley, her husband, and their 4 kids moved from Arizona to Indianapolis to be closer to us. They are the only family we have here so it was a true blessing that they uprooted their lives and moved here. I’ve learned so much about cooking and being a mama from her 🙂
