Happy 2018!

Wow, I just cannot believe that it’s already 2018.  Where has the year gone?  2017 flew by so fast for me so I thought I would take a moment to reflect on this past year and share some highlights with y’all!

Christmas 2016 my husband and I took a long road trip from Indianapolis (our NEW home) to Texas (our previous home) for the holidays.  We drove our Jeep Wrangler to Texas and back, with two dogs, so by the time we got back to Indianapolis, we decided a Jeep was NOT the best road trip vehicle.  We traded in our Jeep Wrangler for a minivan… that’s right folks.  A childless married couple bought a minivan!  Some people might laugh, but we love to take road trips with our dogs (and bicycles) so a minivan made the most sense.

In 2017 we took some epic road trips…

In February, we went to Madison, Wisconsin to visit some friends:

In March, we went to Maryland to visit my husband’s family:

And lastly in November, we took an epic road trip to Arizona to visit my brother in law and his family:

My husband and I have officially lived in Indianapolis for a full year now!  In August 2016, we left Austin Texas and moved to Indianapolis.  Our decision to move was a big one and we made the move to set our family up for a better future.  We lived in a city that was overcrowded and too expensive.  Indianapolis cost of living is much lower than Austin and there is less traffic.  While we miss our family and friends tremendously, we have created a good life here in Indy and made some great friends!

We’ve even had some visitors come see us in Indy!  In May, my husband and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary.  To help us celebrate, my parents came to visit us from Texas.  It was so much fun to show them around Indianapolis and spend some time with them.

In July, my brother and his family came to visit us from Texas.  My brother and his wife have 2 girls, so it was SO fun for us to check out some family-friendly sites in Indianapolis, like the zoo and children’s museum.

One of our favorite things about living in Indianapolis is the outdoors.  There are amazing parks around the city and there is a bike path that connects from our house all throughout downtown.  The weather in Indy is pretty much perfect from May thru October so we spent most of our weekends biking around town and taking our two dogs on hikes.  It’s been really great to live in a city that actually has four season, unlike Texas where there is basically two season (summer and fall).

Bites of Flavor has grown so much and I am so lucky to be able to have a food blog where I can share my passion of healthy food.  This year, I started to create food videos and learn more and more about blogging!  Cooking is my passion, so being able to share my take on healthy and delicious food is a dream for me.  Recently I was able to get a new logo and website redesign, which was much needed!  2017 was a great year for my blog and I look forward to what comes ahead in 2018 with Bites of Flavor.

2017 has been a truly amazing year for my husband and me.  We’ve had so much fun this past year and have built a great life for ourselves.  The most memorable moment happened this past September when we found out were are pregnant!  My husband and I have been wanting to have a baby pretty much ever since we got married so we are incredibly blessed and excited to have a baby.  Our sweet baby girl is due May 2018 and we can’t wait!
