I just love dips and sauces.  I know I say that a lot, but to be honest, I love a lot of different foods with dips and sauces are at the top.  Chips were meant to be eaten with sauces, just as salads were meant to be topped with dressing.  My Quick & Easy Avocado Crema is a delicious sauce perfect to add to tacos, quesadillas, and a taco salad.  Fresh ingredients made into a sauce in under 5 minutes without any preservatives!  This is a Weight Watcher friendly recipe and ZERO SmartPoints for 2 tablespoons!

Not only do I love sauces and dips, but I LOVE avocadoes.  So creamy and goes with pretty much anything.  They are packed with tons of great nutrition and the “good” fat but are rather high in Weight Watcher SmartPoints.  I don’t eat avocadoes by themselves too often.  I eat Mexican food at home at least once a week and always feel like I should be having a slice of avocado on top of whatever it is that I made for dinner.  This is how my Quick & Easy Avocado Crema was born.

I was making quesadillas one day and really wanted to add avocado but was running a bit low on my daily Weight Watcher SmartPoints.  I figured there must be a way to stretch the avocado by adding other ingredients to it so that it would be less points.  This is why I am such a fan of Weight Watchers and will be a lifelong member… this program isn’t cookie cutter, meaning you can take a high points ingredient and transform the ingredient into something else resulting in a low point food.

I make this sauce all the time and use it for so many dishes, like Skillet Fish Tacos with Avocado Crema and Black Bean Nacho Cups.

Skillet Fish Tacos with Avocado Crema are perfect for “taco Tuesday” or really any day of the week! Quick to make, flavorful with every bite, and healthy! Weight Watchers friendly recipe. www.bitesofflavor.com

Black Bean Nacho Cups are the perfect appetizer packed with delicious nacho flavors. Wonton wrapper nacho cups stuffed with black beans, corn, cheese, topped with fresh pico de gallo and avocado crema. Easy to make and healthy! Weight Watchers friendly recipe. www.bitesofflavor.com

Those happen to be a few of the recipes I’ve posted on this site, but there are so many uses for this sauce!  Add it to a taco salad, drizzle on tacos, serve as a dip, or just eat it with chips!  I make this sauce so much I finally decided to give this sauce its own post!

The title of the recipe says it all… it’s quick and easy to make!  You literally just throw all the ingredients into a food processor (or blender), mix it up, and it’s ready to go.  To a food processor add avocado, yogurt, cumin,  jalapeno, onion powder, cilantro, garlic, water, salt, lime juice, and lime zest.  Blend until all ingredients are blended well.
